I have an OpenMotif application that needs updated to support Arabic
script. What is the best way to support Bidi? I see that there is a
Complex Text Layout (CTL) license available for Motif, is this
recommended?

Thanks!

I think it's a free download:

ftp://openmotif.opengroup.org/pub/openmotif/R2.1.30/bidi/

Presumably the restrictive openmotif license would apply...

Yes, thank you. I stumbled upon that shortly after my initial post.
I have built it successfully but have not been able to render any
UTF-8 encoded, multibyte, Unicode strings, yet. I think that I may be
having font issues but I'm not sure.

I cannot seem to get the demo program hellomotifi18n to work, either.
I was hoping it would eliminate some of my confusion.

You can read some more about bidi usage here:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/aix/v6r1/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.aix.aixwnpgd/doc/aixwnpgd/bidirectional.htm
I think bidi is not directly related to antialiased and UTF-8, could be
two separate issues.
You can start from this sample code
