After installing a new KDE on Mandriva, KControl gets empty.
My K Menu is empty as well if I choose KDE genuine menu.
Where are these data read, please ?
Thanks

I have also had this problem with a different distribution. In my case, I
had some data in $HOME/local/share which confused kde. I had XDG_DATA_HOME
and XDG_DATA_DIRS defined for ROX, and when I removed these, moved .kde
away (without having kde running) and then restarted kde, the menus were
back on track. I have _no_ idea if this is the problem, but at least I got
kde back on track. It is sometimes very useful to try to find the log file
(most likely .xerrors or something like that) because kde complains about a
lot of things which may be the cause.
and you are right, many people have obviously had this problem, but nobody
knowing kde startup sequence has bothered to answer. Maybe they are not
reading this newsgroup?
