Everytime I plug a usb stick in the dialogue pops up asking me what I
want to do with it. Where do I set how long that dialog will stay up?

Normally, the pop-up will stay up for about 10 seconds or so and then
it'll vanish again, but if you then need it again, you can click the
notifications icon in the system tray.

My system here still has KDE 4.6.5, and the notification settings are in
the "System Settings" window, under the "Application and System
Notifications" section. There, you will find a combo box where you can
select "removable storage devices", and then you get to see what actions
must be taken when such a device is plugged in. However, in my KDE,
there is only a checkbox for showing the pop-up/dialog, not for setting
how long it remains on the screen.

The settings may be different in later KDE versions, though, so YMMV.

Got it thanks, you're indispensable. I hate dynamic menus and had missed
the 3 actions while looking for something in settings instead to just
keep the initial dialog up until "my highness disposes of it" :-)
