I have an x86 based PIII embedded system Single Board Computer (SBC)
which has Timesys Linux with kernel version 2.4.21 with glibc21
running. I now want to have X installed on this computer. For that I
have downloaded XFree86-4.0.1 because of compatibility reasons. I have
tried installing it, but it always stops with the following sentence:
Object format is 'ELF'. Normally, it should proceed beyond this point
and install X completely. A snapshot of the konsole output is also
appended below.
Could someone help with a solution to install X on this system? Any
pointers?
TIA,
Shireesh

bash-2.05# ./Xinstall.bin
Welcome to the XFree86 4.0.1 installer
You are strongly advised to backup your existing XFree86 installation
before proceeding. This includes the /usr/X11R6 and /etc/X11
directories. The installation process will overwrite existing files
in those directories, and this may include some configuration files
that may have been customised.

Checking which OS you're running...
uname reports 'Linux' version '2.4.21-timesys-4.1-agpgart',
architecture 'i686'.
file: Using regular magic file `/usr/share/magic'
Object format is 'ELF'.
