Announce: OpenMotif 2.3 beta 1

The OpenMotif Project Team announces the availability of OpenMotif 2.3
beta 1. New features include:

Some more info on new features of OM 2.3 beta 1:

· Client-side anti-aliased fonts supported via XFT
· UTF-8 and UTF8_STRING atom support
· Ability to show text and pixmaps in Label, LabelGadget, and all
derived widgets
· Support of PNG and JPEG image formats in the same way as XPM is
supported
· 26 bug fixes (this list is likely to grow... ;-) )

RPMs are available for Red Hat Enterprise 3, 4, Fedora Core 3, 4, and
SuSE professional 9.x. A tar ball is also available for those that have
other versions of Linux and/or want to build it themselves.

OpenMotif 2.3 is binary compatible with OpenMotif 2.2 applications that
use standard Motif widgets or use third party widgets that access
internal Motif structures through the resolvepartsoffset API.

For those of you not familiar with OpenMotif...
OpenMotif is the version of Motif available for open systems. Motif is
the standard GUI toolkit for UNIX workstations and a popular choice for
mission critical applications on Linux.
