I need some assistance here.
A few days ago I made a mistake in judgement and decided to try AOL,
because
I got this free "50 hours of AOL" garbage in the mail. I loaded AOL
from this
CD, and after numerous attempts to get it started it simply did not want
to work.
I then deleted all of the AOL files, and dialed into my normal dial-up
connection.
After recieving some errors that would not allow me to get my PPP
connection
going, I reinstalled my communications package off my Win 95 CD, and
reinstalled
my TCP/IP suite as well.
My connection is ok now, but I still have a problem.
HERE'S MY PROBLEM:
My browser, telnet/ftp program, and pointcast app will NOT resolve a
name.
That is to say, I type 123.123.123.123 and everything works fine, but
when I
enter www.website.com I get an error telling me that "there is no DNS
entry for
this server." Same for my other apps.
I am forced to run nslookup in my shell account to resolve any www sites
I
need to go to, which is EXTREMELY time consuming.
ALSO: I get this "TCP out of memory error" which I never got prior to my
mistaken attempt to go AOL.
This problem is NOT server side because my friend and I both have the
same
dial-up, and his works totally normal.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE if anyone has a suggestion or knows what socket
is responsible for resolving DNS queries respond!
