I have a pc with Microsoft Windows 7 professional installed. A couple
of printers are installed and work fine if I print from every program
I have (MS Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Opera, .....).
The only problem I've got in the last month is with Microsoft Photo
Viewer. It opens .jpg pictures, but does not print them. If I select
"Print" it flashes for half a second, but does not send the images to
printer. Same images if opened with Microsoft Paint are regularly
printed (as with any other program).
What could it have happended?
Thanks
Gio

"Microsoft Photo". What is the full name of that application? Windows
Photo Wizard? Or Microsoft Photo Editor? Or are you asking about
something complete different, like Windows [Live] Photo Gallery?

No version of Windows (the topic of this newsgroup) comes with
Microsoft's Photo [Editor]. That was installed as bundleware (an
optional component) in pre-"2003" versions of Microsoft Office. See:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/what-happened-to-photo-editor-HP001145487.aspx

Don't expect ancient software to function 100% in a later version of
Windows that was released over 8 years later, especially ancilliary
software bundled in that suite. See:

http://www.ehow.com/facts_7487035_microsoft-photo-editor-printing-problems.html

That describes how MS Photo Editor may not correctly track your current
set of printing devices meaning you'll have to reselect one each time
you run that program.

When using the Print function, which printer is selected? Maybe the one
selected in that app is not a valid printer, like it was incompletely
removed so still shows as a selection.

Clear the Event Viewer logs. Then load MS Photo Editor and try to do a
print. When the dialog flashes (to quick to see), move the windows for
MS Photo Editor to make sure it isn't buried underneath that window.
Check the Event Viewer to see if an error or crash was noted at the time
you attempted to print.

Have you tried running it in Compatibility Mode?

Does your printer have a Print Preview mode? That is, when you try to
print, and after telling the application to print and it sends the
output to the print spool, does your printer's software pop open a
display showing you what it was told to print (so you can see it before
committing the print job to paper)? If so, try disabling and reenabling
that option to see if toggling it get the Print Preview mode working
again. Or just disable it to see if the print job gets spooled okay
directly to the printer. If neither work then try updating your
printer's driver (and check there is a Windows 7 supported version of
that printer driver).

It has been way too many years since I had Office XP (2002), or older,
on my computer and even then I didn't use that image editor. You might
like to use something newer, like Paint.NET.

That is NOT a proper signature. Dash, dash, space newline (or "-- \n")
is a proper signature delimiter line and appears BEFORE the signature
block. Also, the signature is superfluous. There is no point in
duplicating in the signatures what the headers already reveal, as in:

Thank you for your answer.
It is Microsoft Photo Viewer (or Wizard? English is not my mother
tongue) It visualizes .jpg files and allows to print but *not* to
modify them.
I tried to double check my writing in my previous post, but in the
process I forgot to add the "Viewer" word in the body of my post so I
left "Viewer" only in the Subject/Title.
Another fact I forgot to add is that up to a couple of months ago it
printed smoothly and effortlessly, and only recently it isn't printing.
Thanks for your answer.

Simply re-install your printer and Photo Viewer will print.
