Hello again...

In the continuing part-time soap opera of my client, I have
taken Jeff Libermann's advice and installed a QIC-type cartridge TBU
solution so that they may have a standard media to backup their
database onto. However, as soon as I have entered in all the correct
properties under the "mkdev tape" menu, the kernel relinking fails.
It attempts to relink, and hangs up a bit, then it tells me that the
re-link has failed. Is there a known bug with Xenix 2.3.4 that does
not allow for easy relinking of kernels after adding a hardware
device? I followed Jeff's advice to run the "sync" command a couple
of times before rebooting, but that was to no avail, as the TBU did
not "post" when the kernel kicked in.

Has anyone run into this situation before? If so, I'd love to
hear about it. Thanks in advance!
