Or so you thought, its the floppy driver that is broken. Anyways if
you make a disk image of an existing Xenix disk, Qemu will happily
boot it!

Remember that Qemu currently is limited to IDE (st506) disks, so SCSI
people will probably have a bit more tweaking? Or I imagine if they
keep the st506 components in their kernel they ough to be ok. I'd
definatly make disk images of your boxes....
We all know how Xenix really doesn't like "big disks"....
