[please forward to any tech geek who needs to hear it]

How does Usenet propagate? Many posters are not technically
educated. The comp.unix.wizards, etc., need to look out for them
and to look out for censorship that is apparently the rage these
days. Usenet is both easy to censor and hard to censor. The
Chinese censor openly; who censors covertly?

I used to check newzbot.com, but that site is apparently down.
How do you authenticate that your posts propagate? (How does
a pig spoof an authentication that your post propagated?)

What is the network structure, what is the protocol, what
set of people are in any group? These are the obvious technical
questions. But tech geeks can miss the larger sense that
there are wide conspiracies which involve people who can hire
tech geeks with no morals who are as good as they are. They can
also forget the reality that not all the normal English majors know
anything about things like TCP-IP protocols. Let alone dissidents
of any sort, domestic or foreign. Many of the people we tech
geeks depend on have no tech geek skills at all. That includes
activists for the fundamental human rights that too many of
us take for granted.

In the flat current reality, even the recently educated tech
geeks are often kept ignorant of the true network structure
where there are monitors at each step. These "monitors" are
typically not "friendlies," even if they are US government agents.
What part of "shall make no law" do they not understand? And
how do you know which government may be involved? You can't.
Insert your own Revolutionary War rallying slogan here. Or
hang separately.
