Can anyone tell me what 'may' have happened ??

Client has PIII 450/256MB Ram, 4Gb master, 8Gb slave partitioned 2 equal
parts
Computone Intelliport II Board, HP24i tape backup, hayes compatible modem, 2
lpt cards

Client was having a problem .. I instructed them to shutdown and restart ...
apparently the
CEO decided to do 'some looking around' and 'claims he didn't change
anything' but went
ahead and recompiled the kernel ..... Why I don't know ?!?!?!?!?!

The system is now very slow ... the modem is no longer accessible ... users
are getting
locked up at times ... just a general mess ..

Any ideas of where to start ????

Thank you in advance for your help

You can try to reboot and as the soon as the SCO logo comes up.
Hit return. At the prompt, enter:

BOOTPROG=unix.old
boot

This will boot your system with the previous kernel.
You can do trouble shooting from there.
