DESCRIPTION: The SCO Internet Family is a world class set of Internet
products, featuring an easy-to-install and configure Internet Server
called SCO Internet FastStart. Also included in the SCO Internet
Family are a number of layered products including specialty Web
servers, gateways from Novell NetWare LANs to the Internet, and
enhanced security products. The layered products in the SCO Internet
Family are add-ons to existing SCO OpenServer configurations and will
also layer on top of SCO Internet FastStart.
SCO Internet FastStart has everything you need to quickly get up and
running on the Internet/Intranet or Web. It includes a single-user
version of the SCO OpenServer 5 Enterprise System, PPP from Morning
Star Technologies, virtual domain support, Netscape Navigator 2.0,
and Netscape Communications Server. Installation and configuration
are made simple via an HTML-based tool that guides the installer
painlessly through the entire install process. The configuration
tool is available to any browser on the network, offering
centralized management capability.

View rich multimedia content and enjoy
enhanced performance over 1.0. Client-side
image mapping, progressive JPEG support, GIF
animation, and support for multiple streaming
of video, audio, and other data formats. New
full-featured and rich email capabilities
enable you to read and send email messages
without launching an external email
application. Integrated newsgroups - sort,
read, and post newsgroup messages in fully
threaded hierarchical windows. FTP file
upload - conveniently drop off files at an
FTP server for exchange with others.
Bookmarks are much easier to use and peruse
thanks to a host of new features like aliases
and hierarchical menus.
Internet Security Dynamic IP packet filtering, allowing
Package configurable external and internal access
based on source, destination host,
destination network, destination service
port, TCP, UCP, ICMP, session direction, and
IP header options. Allows detection of
source address spoofing, source port
cranking, and common network mischief. DES
encryption of network traffic (U.S. only)
between sites.
Internet to Netware Enables NetWare (IPX-based) network to
Gateway access Internet through plug and play
installation of IPX/IP gateway and IPX
clients with no network reconfiguration,
allowing centralized access to the Internet.
No TCP stack required for each client.
Outsiders cannot see internal NetWare LAN
servers or workstations.
PPP from Morning Star Enhanced Point to Point Protocol allowing
256 concurrent sessions, link level error
detection, enhanced connectivity device
support, link level authentication by
PAP/CHAP, callback, full data compression,
dynamic IP address negotiation.

APPLICATION: SCO Internet FastStart supports the creation of virtual
domains using the built-in multi-homing support. Therefore, one SCO
Internet FastStart server can act as the "home" for multiple
individual or company Web sites, eliminating the need for one server
per Web site or domain.
Networking is built into SCO Internet FastStart. Included are
TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NFS, DNS, PPP, SMTP, and POP, as well as network
install capability.
SCO Doctor Lite is also included in FastStart, giving enterprise-
class performance monitoring and systems management. Backing up
your FastStart server is a snap with the built-in SCO ARCserve/Open
Lite graphical backup engine. SCO Internet FastStart also includes
a copy of SCO Advanced File and Print Server.

NOTES:
SCO Internet FastStart requires a fresh installation. It is not
an in-place upgrade, and systems upon which it is installed will
have to be overwritten with the installation.
Installation of Internet Server Family Layered Products on an
existing SCO OpenServer 5 system requires the following
components to be installed:
- SCO Internet Supplement
- Support Level Supplement for the Custom Utility
- Networking Supplement Release 1.0 for SCO OpenServer Release 5

Web access will not require additional UNIX user connection
licenses (user bump packs). For the purpose of determining the
correct user count for the operating system, the following rules
apply:
The Number of user/connection licenses required should be equal to
the greater of either:
- The number of traditional user logins (telnet, rlogin, rcmd,
FTP login), OR
- The number of user/connections required by an applications
running on the system
The following do not require user/connection licenses: HTTP (Web)
access, Anonymous FTP access.
