I am trying to set up a LAT printer in our printcap, but doesn't work. Can
anyone send me a working one? I am running a DECstation 5000/200 and
Ultrix 4.1.

The LAT printer is not physically connected with any terminal server, but
it is a PC's LPT1 and the PC is running Pathworks 4.0 and I made the LATCP
running and offer the local printer as a LAT priner. The service name is
CASRPS and the PC's DECnet node is EG201A. What I should specify in the
printcap's ts/op/os entries? Is lp/br/fs/fc/xs/xc fields necessary?

Thanks for your help!

I've never been able to get this to work. Printing to a terminal server
connected printer will work, but you have to specify the port name, NOT the
service name. Since the PC can only offer a service name, you can't print
to a PC offered printer from Ultrix. Go figger!

We have yet to try this, but the problem may be solved in 4.2.
To quote from the May '91 Ultrix 4.2 Release notes:

'Printing to a service (using the printcap "os" parameter) did not work
if the service name was over 4 characters in length (the lat code was
"accidentally" truncating the service name to 4 characters). Service
names can now be up to 16 characters in length.'

Sorry, didn't get the original posting, so I have to followup the followup:

As far as I remember the Pathworks for Ultrix 1.0 Server does not, contrary
to the VMS Server, support printing to a PC printer, outlined in the SPD.o
