tar command can support multi-volume of tapes

Hi there,

I am planning to use tar command to archive file more than 24GB on a
tape with capacity of 12GB. I would like to know if the tar command can
support multi-volume, and ask me to insert new tapes when 12GB of the
first tape is used up. And issue appropriate prompts for me to switch
tape?
