Suddenly we are unable to connect to our Solaris 8 machine via SSH. The
server returns the error in the subject line. We are also unable to log in
locally to CDE and OpenWin. I suspect the same error message is repeated
somewhere in the CDE logs. Any ideas what has changed?

Thanks,

Matt

You've run out of ptys; so the question really is what OS
release you're running or whether /usr/lib/pt_chmod is still
set-uid root.

Expressed in this posting are my opinions. They are in no way related
to opinions held by my employer, Sun Microsystems.
Statements on Sun products included here are not gospel and may
be fiction rather than truth.

Perhaps there is unnecessary "set pt_cnt" statement in /etc/system, left
over from a previous OS release.
