The problem comes from trying to mount the drive on a windows NT 4
machine running InterDrive NT (an NFS client package). From the
windows machine I can see the shared nfs drive, but it wont mount
because the windows machine is trying to authenticate the drive
through solaris's pcnfsd.
So I'm wondering if pcnfsd is part of solaris, is it required, where
can I get it. I did a "find / -name "*pcnfsd*" -ls" as root on the
solaris machine and found nothing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

You will need to obtain and install pcnfsd
I am not sure of the exact site address, you can probably find it at
ftp.sunsite.edu or ftp.sun.com
Otherwise, search for it on Lycos or your favorite search program.
One other thing, you might need to give some permissions in your
sharetab file(s) for the NT to have permission to access the mounted
drive.

The source to pcnfsd may be available on the 'net somewhere, as it's in
Sun's best interest to have as many ports as possible.
I myself have been using PC-NFS since version 3.01 (about 1987), and am
currently using PC-NFSpro 2.0 and PC-Admin 1.51.

Jay, I don't believe that it is part of the distribution...in fact, I
had to grab a copy off the net...I compiled it and it seemed to work
ok. However, I can only seem to be able to have READ ONLY status from
my NT box even though I have it set up as READ-WRITE. I'm still
struggling with it.

You have to buy PC-NFS or one of its relatives.
