Can someone tell me where I can find a full install of JDK 6
software ?

I only see JDK 7 and JDK 6 Updates on at the site below.

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

I'm currently at java version "1.5.0_16".

I need to update my JDK to version JDK 1.6.0_11 or above in order to
use
sqldeveloper.

Thanks,
Carl

You found it.
Click on the JDK Download button for Java SE 6 Update 29
and fetch jdk-6u29-solaris-sparc.tar.Z.
$ zcat jdk-6u29-solaris-sparcv9.tar.Z|tar xf -
# pkgadd -d . SUNWj6rt SUNWj6cfg SUNWj6dev SUNWj6man

John,

Need some clarification. Do you mean to "fetch jdk-6u29-solaris-
sparc.tar.Z" or jdk-6u29-solaris-sparcv9.tar.Z ?

I've downloaded :

jdk-6u29-solaris-sparc.tar.Z - 141 MB

jdk-6u29-solaris-sparcv9.tar.Z - only 15MB

Do I install jdk-6u29-solaris-sparc.tar.Z and then put jdk-6u29-
solaris-sparcv9.tar.Z on top?

Thanks,
Carl

Does SQLDeveloper require the 64-bit Java Runtime?
I doubt it.
But if I'm wrong, then install those packages too.

Thanks to all the responses. Installed JDK 6 with no problems.

Now I'm having a problem installing sqldeveloper. I downloaded the
"..... for other Platforms version " from:

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html

The install keeps failing. See below.
Thanks,
Carl

Hi Carl,

Why don't you just use JDK7 and use the -source -target options ?
With MS Word 2011 you can also read and write MS Word 2007 format.

In Java it's no different.

Cheers Ron
