Hi,

I am not sure if this is the correct place to ask - if not let me
know where to go.

I would like to know what command I need to give to get the Solaris
console pop up. E.g. on KDE this is "Konsole". On many Linuxs "xterm"
also works.

What is the equivalent for these on Solaris when xterm does not
exist. (Also, if possible let me know where this may be found.

I don't have much experience with Linux and Solaris so my terminology
might be wrong.
Thanks a lot,
O.O.

I'm not sure there is an actual console anymore, on Solaris 10.
Perhaps you just want a terminal emulator. If you are using the `Java
Desktop, the default desktop, look in the [Launch] menu for
[Applications], [Utilities], and [Terminal].

Several other terminal emulators are also available, but they won't
be in your default PATH. This is a Solaris 10 annoyance.

There is. Both xterm and dtterm take a -C option to pick up the
console output. I don't know if gnome terminal can do this.

Sorry for not following up with this post, but Thank you, Thommy, Gary
and Andrew for posting your responses. I found Thommy's suggestion of
"/usr/openwin/bin/xterm" to do what I wanted.
Thanks again guys
