Hello,

Is there a way to run "reboot" command to bring the server from (multi/single)user mode to the "OK" prompt without using init, shutdown, or halt ?
I am aware of the following flags for reboot but can't seem to find one to reboot to "ok" prompt. Would anyone know the answer out there ?

Thanks, Bill

#reboot (reboot to multi user mode)
#reboot -- -r (reconfiguration reboot)
#reboot -- -s (reboot into single user mode)

you can't 'reboot' to the ok prompt, since 'rebooting' means restarting the OS, and the OK prompt is what you get outside of the OS, you can do halt to stop the OS to get to an OK prompt. or issue a break. but you can't "reboot" to the ok prompt.

you can set autoboot? to false in the eeprom, and it'll stop at the ok prompt after post and won't boot into the OS.

There is a reboot -p option in the Solaris 11 release but it is not available in Solaris 10 releases.

But it still reboots the system.

You can try uadmin command with respective options.

uadmin 2 0 sync the filesystems and drops system to ok prompt

uadmin 2 1 sync the filesystems and reboots to multi-user mode

uadmin 2 2 sync the filesystems and reboots interactively

uadmin 2 3 sync the filesystems and reboots to single-user mode

uadmin 2 6 sync the filesystems and powers off the system

We use these below rarely.

uadmin 1 0 do not sync filesystems and drops system to ok prompt

uadmin 1 1 do not sync filesystems and reboots to multi-user mode

uadmin 1 2 do not sync filesystems and reboots interactively

uadmin 1 3 do not sync filesystems and reboots to single-user mode

uadmin 1 6 do not sync filesystems and powers off the system
