The IDPROM checksum is incorrect.
Then I proceed with b sd(0,6,2) and I got:
invalid format code in IDprom.
What is the problem, hardware setting incorrect ? Cable routing error ?
Incompatible hardware ? (They are all Sun hardware). Please help.
Regards

There is a battery embedded in the NVRAM chip on your motherboard
(chip with white or yellow barcode label with some alphanumeric goo
under the barcode). This battery has run down. The NVRAM chip stores
your hostid, ethernet address, the time of day, and various
configuration parameters (boot-device, security-mode, etc.)
Fortunately, this is a relatively easy problem to fix. You need to buy
a new NVRAM chip (Mostek M48T02), remove the old one, install the new
one, and program a hostid and ethernet address into the new chip. The
whole procedure takes about five minutes. The new M48T02 will run you
about US$20.
For detailed information grab the following:

OR
ftp://ftp.netcom.com/pub/he/henderso/change-sun-hostid-1.6.1.tar.gz
In particular look at the file nvram.info in the tar file.

Solaris 2.4 requires an absolute minimum of 16 Megs of memory.
Hope this helps,

Warning! This has as much to do with the rev of the PROM in your machine
as anything else. Older sun 4 machines still require b (0,6,2), and boot
cdrom/disk from the OK prompt will give you a blank look.
(especially true on sun3 machines which don't have OK>)
additional info for 2-back poster
4/60 = sparc1
4/65 = sparc1+
4/75 = sparc2
4/25 = ELC
4/40 = IPC
4/50 = IPX
These are all independent of O/S however.
