Please advice if anybody know Solaris support SPARC 2 or not, it is
really important for some local Universities here !
Solaris 2.5 works just fine on an SS2, it feels a bit
snappier then 2.4 as well.

Most definately! However Solaris 2.5 does _NOT_ support the GS and GT
graphics cards. So if the SPARCstation 2s have those cards your SOL
unless you replace them with a GX, or TGX card.

Yep - Solaris 2.5 should run on any Sun Sparc except the 4/100, 4/200,
4/300, and 4/400 series (the Sun4 architecture).

Well, FWIW, that's what I've been using at home for several months.
No problems to date. And even though I'm getting spoiled by my new
office machine (an Ultra-1 with FFB, 192MB memory and Barracuda disks),
my old SS2 feels quite snappy with 2.5.

Does anybody know wether the Solaris 2.4 GT device drivers work with
Solaris 2.5?
We have two SS2/GT's and I don't like them running a different OS than
the other computers.

Well, unless Sun changed the OW driver API (which, AFAIK, they didn't), you
should be able to keep the 2.4 drivers for the GS/GT and use them.
Of course, I have no idea if the kernel drivers will work or not...
