Guys,

I've been running into this problem multiple times. Few of x4140
machines in my setup doesn't allow me to get console from Net mgmt or
serial console.

I login into the Net mgmt and do :

cd /SP/Console
start
and it gives me
Serial console started. To stop, type ESC (

Then I dont get the login prompt for OS.

Any one got a fix for this??

Thanks in advance.

I don't know the correct fix, but when this happens I've ended up using
the web console instead.

In article <7dd30bF...@mid.individual.net>,

Is the system configured with the console on the serial port?

I rather like the ILOM, but you absolutely have to update it on
arrival. I can't understand why Sun just can ship hardware with the
latest firmware installed.

The ELOM is a sad excuse for SP

My guess is...

start /SYS

help

(another useful command for more hints)

Grabbing documentation for an x4140 and/or ILOM should also answer some questions, e.g. google 'x4140 ILOM' and look at some of the PDF and or online documentation, which happens to be freely available.

Use "eeprom console=ttya" to set the console-output through ttya.
