FTPing to Solaris

Whenever I try to FTP to our machine running Solaris 2.3 this is what I
get:
get:
malahat.library.uvic.ca> ftp mars.library.uvic.ca
Connected to mars.library.uvic.ca.
421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection
ftp>
Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

Make sure that "ftpd" is up and running on your Solaris machine.
