Just received our new Storedge L25 backup library from Sun. The host will
probably be an Ultra 60 running Solaris 8, and I'll be backing up NFS
mounts and a NETAPP filer using NDMP and 7.1 of Sun's Storedge
Enterprise backup software.

Any "gotchas" or tips you can think of that might help?

Thanks,

Kevin

You don't say what kind of drives you got, but make sure you install the
latest st patch, the version as recent as Dec didn't have support for
LTO2's.

And watch the doors, I hit one while removing a tape tray and out of the
corner of my eye I saw the door magnet fly off into the cabinets where it
was lost forever. It's bad enough looking for your last cage nut that you
just dropped, imagine looking for a 1/8" magnet that could be sticking
anywhere. I broke down after two hours and called Quantum for a replacement.

Thanks Paul,

I got the Ultrium LTO2 - 200/400GB tapes. Thanks for the heads up. Glad
your magnet didn't wind up attached to a RAID shelf somewhere. ;)
