Hi All,

Firstly, I realise this perhaps isn't the best place to post this - but
in the absecence of any other groups ... I hope people don't mind me
posting this here.

I'm trying to use Legato Networker (on Solaris) to backup some NFS
mounts. This is only a temporary solution - as we currently have
another machine on the network which needs to be backed up whilst on
site.

We're using the standard Unix directives, with the NSR control set to
'skip' tmp_mnt (ignore any temporary mounts). This works great on the
backup server (also our file server) - as it backs up local file
systems but ignore any NFS mounts.

Now, I've removed the 'skip: tmp_mnt' bit from the NSR control (under
directives in nwadmin) and individually listed the NFS mounts which
need to be skipped. However, it seems to be completely ignoring this,
and works as normal.

I've inherited this setup - and hence know very little about it.

But - is it possible to get legato to backup an NFS mount? Or do I
need an additional licence to do this? If I don't need a license - is
there any easy way of doing this?

Should I do as I've already tried, and specificy specific FS's to
skip, or should I specify "skip: tmp_mnt" and then add an additional
command to say "skip: tmp_mnt except a b and c" ?

I've RTFM, but I can only find very high level information ...

Thanks,

Steve

What you need to do is fully specify the mount point;
i.e. - /software/complier
which is an export from server:/export/software/complier.
You don't need to muck with the skip directives unless you have other
reasons to.

It does say this in the manual but it is not easy to spot. Had the same
issue myself.

If I remember Networker comes with a minimun # of licenses. ( I'm
thinking ten ) Load the client software and define the client and you're
done.

Thanks for your response. I'll give it a go and see how far I get.
