I'm having some real problems with automounter. Both are running
Solaris 8. I have no problem mounting the file system and doing what
I want but automounter won't mount it under this configuration.
Here's the configuration:
Server A -
SunOS xxx 5.8 Generic_108528-23 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-Enterprise
NIS master
/etc/dfs/dfstab
share -F nfs -o ro=yyy.ssd.loral.com -d "TCMS dev"
/dbd01/projects/tcmsdev
Server B -
SunOS yyy 5.8 Generic_108528-15 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire
Not running NIS
/etc/auto_master
# Master map for automounter
#
#+auto_master
/- auto_direct
/net -hosts -nosuid,nobrowse
/xfn -xfn
/etc/auto_direct
/dbd01/oracle/tcms/engdev/data/PublishDictionaries
orion:/dbd01/projects/tcmsdev
When I change the automount point to say /mnt or darn near anything
else, it works just the way I would expect. Please help!

Do you get any errors in /var/adm/messages or on the console when you cd
into the directory? If you

Is /dbd01/oracle/tcms/engdev/data/PublishDictionaries a local directory
or is it contained in another automounted directory?

After you set the automount on B, and run 'automount', does the
automounter take over the mount point? I used /foo/bar/baz on my
machine...
# df -k /foo/bar/baz
Filesystem kbytes used avail capacity Mounted on
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 75116269 7021697 67339660 10% /
# automount
# df -k /foo/bar/baz
Filesystem kbytes used avail capacity Mounted on
auto_direct 0 0 0 0% /foo/bar/baz
