Currently, if you run your solaris 11 install server, as the DHCP server for your net, and then also run "installadm create-client -e xx:xx:xx", it will make an entry for it in the dhcpd.conf file.

WHich is kindasorta nice.. but it's a bare entry, along the lines of

host xxxxxxx {
hardware ethernet xx:xx:xx
filename xx:xx:xx
}

We have a non-trivial network. We need our DHCP entries to provide router IP and subnet
(not to mention a specific IP address)

Anyone know of a way to get create-client to set up that stuff in dhcp?
It's annoying to still have to hand-edit files for every new client.

Even after all this time, I still can't get over the impression that AI
has taken some backwards steps to the installation process :-(

Hi, no i do not think so but if you really want to do it best way is that don't use dhcp service provided by AI instead create script which take all parameter and put specific value in dhcp file.

Any reason you thought answering a 4.5 year old question was useful ?
I don't think Phil will have waited.

Solaris is so stable, high traffic is not required :-)
