Slow file closing on SCO UNIXWARE

I have a client that has a SCO Unixware system ... they seem to have a
problem when opening a large database for data searches .. the file is
opened quickly but when the user wants to exit this lookup .. it takes 2, 3,
4 or 5 minutes .. sometimes even longer to close the file .. I have had them
report that it takes 15-20minutes at times .. any ideas ??

Oh yeah .. Pentium II 450 w/256MG ram , 2 8gb drives .. computone board ..
hp dat drive ...
Any help is greatly appreciated
