hw returns that my Pentium 4 1.6 GIGHZ is running a 256 HZ.

What's this all about. Thanks Willjay.

Give us a hand here please.. Run:

customquery listpatches | head -1

Send us the results.

My best guess however is that you're using OSR 5.0.6 without the OSS648a
supplement. If not, then the above should help us a bit further.

Well, as Stuart J. Browne said, you need oss648a. You also may need its
prerequisite, rs506a.

What speed does it actually report? I'm sure it doesn't say 256 Hz --
it would take years to boot at that speed. 256MHz, I might believe...

It shows
# customquery listpatches | head -1
SCO:Unix::5.0.6Ga rs506a.Unix506.1.0a usb.Unix506.1.0a

I applied the OSS648a patch and had to remove it as it cause the
system to panic at boot. When i installed the patch it balked at no
smp being installed. Also took exception to x286emul not being of
valid check sum.

oss648a does not require SMP.

You've just described three separate problems and given us zero error
messages. Please don't paraphrase error messages.

You _need_ oss648a for OpenServer 5.0.6 to work correctly on Pentium 4
CPUs. Not having it is not an option. If you're having trouble
installing it then give the actual error messages you got, and someone
here will be able to help get it installed correctly.

I fixed this problem, by applying the oss648a, however my first
attempts caused a panic at boot. So I uninstalled it. Later I
re-installed it and reset my bios back to default, because I had a
slight overclocking, maybe this was causing the panic. Anyway it's
fixed.

FYI:

oss648a will warn you that it cannot install the parts that are
required for smp unless smp is installed. oss648a will also do a
verify by doing a quick checksum and size check on a few files, one of
which is x286emul and if it does not verify it will warn you. Mine
did not verify as I use a modified x286emul.

I'm not sure why oss648a verifys the x286emul files. May be someone
else can answer that.

Anyway the panic did not reoccur and hw reports:
There is one CPU on this system.

The CPU performs like a 1600Mhz Intel Pentium 4

And by the way, after resetting the overclock and bios back to
default, and before applying the oss648a patch I checked hw and it
reported that the CPU performed like a 200Mhz. And it performed like
one too, very slow.

Now this machine screams. I am very happy.

Thanks all for the help

Ah, this makes sense (though it would still be good to see the actual
messages, not your summary of them). It isn't saying that the
supplement as a whole can't be installed, it's saying that part of it is
not applicable and will be omitted.

It probably runs a custom verify, or perhaps fixmog. It is not
explicitly checking x286emul, it's running a wider system check that
notices x286emul in particular because you've modified it.
