First of all... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
I'm trying to install SCO OSR6 + MP4 + MP4 drivers in a box with an
INTEL DG33FB motherboard.
Installation goes flawlessly after using "PSM=atup" as bootstring to
avoid a PANIC. Once MP4 is installed, there is no need to use this
bootstring. MP4 drivers "ahci", "ide", and "nd" are installed next.
Kernel relinked and at this point, everything is right.
The problem comes when I try to install with "netconfig" the embebbed
network card (INTEL 82566DC). This card is supported in "nd" package,
but this is not absolutely true.
"netconfig" does not recognize the card. I checked the output of "hw -
v" and noticed that Vendor id is 0x8086 (INTEL), but Device id is
0x2937. There is not an entry for this Device id in "/etc/inst/nd/mdi/
e1008g" directory.
A "fgrep 82566DC" in this directory shows two files for this card,
"e1008g_104A.bcfg" and "e1008g_104B.bcfg". I copied the last one as
"e1008g_2937.cfg" and edited this file, changing the last line
(BOARD_IDS) from "0x8086104B" to "0x80862937". I also edited the file
"/etc/inst/nd/mdi/e1008g/Drvmap" and added a line with the new Device
id 2937, as follows:
e1008g|Y|N|Network Interface Cards|Intel(R) 82566DC Gigabit Network
Connection|PCI|0x80862937|E1000 PCI|
After this changes, netconfig recognizes the card, bur when it tries
to install it, I get the error message:
"(\) the idinstall command has failed - resmgr key 20 already taken by
driver..." (I can't read the last words of the message, if any)
I'm sure I'm missing something. Please, can anyone tell me how can I
get this card working?
Many thanks and greetings from Spain.

Afternoon Alberto,
instead of making a copy of one of the bcfg files, I would suggest
you
try making a backup copy of one of the existing files and then
editing the file and adding the board ID of your board. There is
no need therefore to update the Drivemap file.
Try this and see if it works. If it does not then I would recommend
that you contact your SCO Support provider for further assistance.
Regards,
John
Hi John,
Thank you for your kind answer.
After correcting a mistake with the Device ID (it's really 294C
instead of 2937, sorry), the system recognizes the card and the
procedure goes forward and finishes. You can set the IP address and
other parameters, but it shows the following error messages, and
finally, the network card does not work:
e1008g_sw_init:e1008g_config_adapter_struct f... (I can't read
anymore)
WARNING: e1008g: e1008g_config: Could not allocate the driver memory
structures
Any idea, please?
Thank you again and Happy New Year all!

Hi all,
Problem solved!!!
The card is now recognized flawlessly after loading the new network
driver package "nd.8.0.6h", released in January 26, 2010
Best regards,
