Running hw > /tmp/logme gets the standard error message:
ERROR: Unable to create temporary cdev: No such file or directory
ERROR: Unable to create temporary cdev: No such file or directory
ERROR: Unable to create temporary cdev: No such file or directory
ERROR: Unable to create temporary cdev: No such file or directory
ERROR: Unable to create temporary cdev: No such file or directory
ERROR: Unable to create temporary cdev: No such file or directory
ERROR: Unable to create temporary cdev: No such file or directory
But otherwise, hw produces the expected output.
(Well not really, the output shows:
CPU 1 performs like a 2656Mhz Intel Xeon
Processor: 1 (0xffffe)
Physical CPU: 1
Logical CPU: 1
Vendor ID: GenuineIntel
cpu_family: 15
cpu_id: 0x0b000f25
type: 0
family: 15
model: 2
stepping: 5
brandId: 11
Information on CPU 2 is unavailable
Information on CPU 3 is unavailable
Information on CPU 4 is unavailable
on a two processor system with hyper threading enabled with SCO
5.0.7 with SMP license and MP5 installed)
The second problem was custom failed to run creating the following
/tmp/tclerror.1193.log
# cat /tmp/tclerror.1193.log
Uncaught error in Tcl program: /etc/custom:
couldn't create error file for command: No such file or directory
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error code = POSIX ENOENT {No such file or directory}

while executing
"exec $customSharedSSO/custom/wserverterm INFO"
invoked from within
"set ttyParms [exec $customSharedSSO/custom/wserverterm INFO]..."
("uplevel" body line 52)
invoked from within
"uplevel $command"

I found that /usr/tmp was missing. Once I recreated /usr/tmp the hw and custom
commands were happy.
Just an FYI
