Hwconfig does not show type or vendor of tape devices, only SCSI
parameters.

'cdrecord -scanbus'
Cdrecord is easy to compile, or get it from Skunkware.

On our system, and a lot of others it does show. These are the last two
lines of hwconfig on our box:

name=Stp-1 vec=- dma=- Vendor=TANDBERG Product=SLR60
name=Stp-0 vec=- dma=- Vendor=HP Product=C1537A

Try:
1. dtype /dev/rStp0
2. tape -a getdensity /dev/rStp0
See the man page at:
http://www.sco.com/cgi-bin/ssl_getmanpage?tape+C+OS5+tape
for other optionsn (compression, etc).
