Alphaserver 800 boot problem

Hi all,

I've inherited an old AlphaServer 800 with DEC Unix 3.4(?) and when I
try to boot, it constantly resets...it boots the kernel but once it
gets to "LAN Eumlation configured" it "resets i/o devices" and
reboots. It basically does this ad finitum.

Is there an interactive boot? Or some way to boot it into single user
mode?
