I am looking for a way to distribute some bourne shell scripts in an
unreadable form. Has anyone though of a way to do this? I guess I am looking
for some sort of script compiler.
Any and all help would be most appreciated.

P.S. Please cc any posts to my email address, thanks.

You might want to check out CCsh, "The Bourne Shell Compiler" available
from us (Comeau Computing). CCsh compiles your script to C which
is then brought to native object code by your C compiler. This is
not just a wrapper or encryptor product.

Is this commercialware or is it available off of the Net? And in either case, is a Linux version available or planned?

Q1. Since I can and do write in both Bourne Shell and ANSI C, would there
be any advantage (other than time) using your product versus writing a C
program from scratch? Also, how tight is the C code generated? Can the
compiler output a converted .c file as well as an object file? I know the
last part borders on the ridiculous, but if you don't ask....
Q2. I support various commercial UNIX variants for my employer (primarily
SCO, UnixWare, HP-UX and AIX, though). Do you have compilers for all
these platforms? Any others? What cost?
