Where to change the system lock time settings

connected to AIX 5.3 machine as root user using Xmanger in CDE
environment.
I just clicked on the Lock symbol to lock the system.
The system get locked, Entering the root password is not allowing to
login to the machine instead it gives a beep sound.

What I type from Keyboard as well as mouse is not getting recognised?
Is there any time setting untill then we can't unlock the machine.
