Hi.
I'm newbie on FreeBSD GUI.
I'm running FreeBSD since almost 2 years and my best friend in
difficulties is Handbook and google.
But maybe I did not look enough or in the right way.

I installed /usr/ports/x11/XFree86-4
followed step by step the handbook, but...
this is the error I receive when I try XFconfig:

Module Loader present
Markers: (--) probed, ....
(==) Using config file :"/etxt/X11/XF86Config"
(EE) R128(0):No DFP detected
[drm] failed to load kernel module "r128"
(EE) R128(0): [dri] DRIScreenInit failed. Disabling DRI

from what I can understand, it cannot load kernel module for my ATI
RAGE 128 (the module should be 'r129'). Or am I wrong ?
How can I solve this problem ?

Please do not misunderstand me: I love FreeBSD and very happy with it.
I'm replacing it and working hard to challenge any problem...
But in my old linux box, either RedHat (DeadRats) and Suse recognize my
ATI RAGE 128 immediately within the installation process and no problem
at all.
I have another PC with same ATI RAGE 128 (AGP) with RedHat 9.0 and
XFConfig file look same.
I need a GUI in this FreeBSD to run some GUI-software to controll my
RAID card!

Sorry to bother you!
Thanks for any help!
David

comp.unix.bsd.freebsd is not widely propagated, so you won't
necessarily get much help here (in comp.unix.bsd.freebsd).
See http://www.freebsd.org/support.html for better ideas...

If the config file looks the same, it really should work assuming the
same version of XFree86. Are you sure that they are?

Are you sure *that* software will run on FreeBSD?
