bpf vs. pf

Are bpf and pf pretty much the same? Can someone post an example bfp
rules file? Also, does the rc.firewall call the rules file? If not,
how is the rules file loaded?

comp.unix.bsd.freebsd is not widely propagated, so you won't
necessarily get much help here (in comp.unix.bsd.freebsd).

No. They are utterly unrelated. bpf is a raw interface to send and
receive packets, while pf is a packet filter.

I suspect you're thinking of ipfirewall or ipfilter, not Berkeley
Packet Filter.

rc.firewall *is* a rules file, designed around ipfw.
