Archlinux is very bsd like. Personnally i like Ubuntu a lot, at least for
desktops, laptops etc. It is the way to have a system working very well
with a minimum of fuss. They have been criticized a lot about their
move to Unity etc. but of course you have the option of dumping all that crap
and using for exemple KDE, or Xfce and then you have something excellent,
and very easy to maintain. Sorry but the BSDs (and archlinux) are not easy to
maintain, and have never been. Maybe with the new package system, things
will become easier, but it will take years.
