unqualified hostname error on boot causes pauses

I used dhcp at home to install 9.1amd64

I put my hostname into /etc/hosts and it still pasuses forever on boot.

Is the solution just to remove the hostname line from rc.conf?

That looks like a sendmail warning, and, yes, last I saw, sendmail can
hang quite a while if it can't get its host's fully qualified domain
name. Your best bet is either to disable sendmail, or check its man
pages for ways of configuring it that suit your situation.
