REcently a server has been resarting on either an /etc/daily
or /etc/weekly routine.

This morning when I went in, the server was on a blue screen and the message read

dumping to dev 18,0,1 offset 262144
dump panic (cpu-0): lockmgr: locking against self

dumping to dev 18,0,1 offset 262144
dump panic (cpu-0): double fault

I did notice a vm-Pager fault in an earlier lockup.

The hardward is Tyan i7501 S2735GNN with 4 GB RAM and 3.0+ GHz CPUs .

What must be done to rectify this situation?

Hi,

My initial thought for such an uncontrolled crash is a hardware fault.

Try both harddrive and memory diagnostics with Seatools and Memtest86+
respectively.

Regards.
