Hi

While trying to enable tcp/ip on an exsisting server running 3.1
I noticed the following:
1) no /usr/etc
2) no /usr/catman
3) on the console no ftp, ping etc..
is it that I'm missing something ? or is it part of the configuration that
I have to do ?

the only 2 CD's are the ones mentioned in the FAQ (System Software Installer
for File and Print Service..
and Software Upgrade Installer

Thanks in advance

Michael

Strange, on my version /usr/etc and /usr/catman is populated.
Especially /usr/etc contains all the vanilla inetd coupled services.

Perhaps this system was used differently before, or the harddisk got cleaned
during the internet april 1st spring cleaning sweep.

FWIW my /usr/etc looks like :

A 'whereis in.telnetd' should give you a possible hidingplace of this appl.

Good luck, best regards, Rob Kouwenberg

PS 'newconfig -v bnet' gives you tcp/ip on ethernet in the kernel.
