Has anyone had any experience setting up XLC on AIX 4.2.1 (43P)? I've
installed it from SMIT, and know it works (typing XLC gives me the args
list). But apparently I don't have the license installed:

1506-333 (S) License failure: acquire: No servers available for this
vendor (network license server/library).

I do have the standaolone license server installed:

The only nodelocked licenses are:

Is there something I'm missing here, or is just as simple as I don't
have a valid license from IBM for their compiler? Does anyone have a
guess at how much it costs if I do need one (for a 43P uniproc). If you
hadn't guessed already, I've no experience with IBM's compiler, having
used mostly GCC in the past on Linux and AIX.

Thanks in advance,

Zack

You have to enroll the new compiler. Find the file that contains the
license. Usually in /usr/ somewhere search for *_cn.lic .

Then /var/ifor/i4blt -a -f /path/to/license/file
or something like that.

Hmmm. I don't seem to have any .lic file like that. Would that be something
normally shipped with the XLC compiler? Or is this a license file you get
when you BUY the compiler?

TIA,

Zack
