I have an F50 running AIX 4.3.1
When I try to cancel print jobs i various print queues, i get the
message, that the job is not in queue "prtx". I know it is in a
different queue. But it will not cancel because the system thinks i am
trying to stop jobs in queue "prtx" always. It looks like "prtx" is
the default queue. On my 59H running AIX 4.1.5 this is not a problem.
What could cause this? Is it because of the default queue?
The default queue on the 59H is "bsh". "bsh" is not on my F50.

Ypur message is a little fuzzy, but it sounds like the queing system is
confused. Print job ques are stored in /var/spool/lpd/qdir until they
get printed, you can always delete the file from here for that printer
and the job is cancelled, but this is fixing a symptom not the problem.
The first thing you need to do is get rid of ques that do not exist,
delete them from the system. The go to /var/spool/lpd and delete all
files in the qdir and the stat directories, when you do this all of the
remaining print ques will have unknown as their status. Now stop the
qdaemon, stopsrc -s qdaemon, and the start it, startsrc -s qdaemon. Give
it a try now.

By default, cancelling a print job looks in the default queue. The
default queue may be the system default (one listed first in /etc/qconfig)
or the user's default that can be set with the LPDEST or PRINTER
environment variable. Perhaps just specifying the queue. I prefer: enq
-Pqname -x ### where ### is the job number.

Best regards,
Paul
