Hi

We have an unexplained problem withe the 7028-6el (pseries 610) architecture
chrp.

After loading by NIM, spot AIX433 ML 9 + PTF U478878 (bos.sysmgt.sysbr
4.3.3.79) + ressource mksysb from an old 41 T (aix 433 ) the system hag
after reboot on LED 0554.

We tried fsck, logform, fsck, bosboot in maintenance Mode ( each step OK)
but the result is identical.
We had cheched all configuration parameters (image.data, bosinst.data ect

The Nim master is an other "610 "whith AIX 433 ML 9.

Any ideas ??
Tks

554 The boot device could not be opened or read, or unable to
define NFS swap device during network boot.

Standard AIX code 554 means corrupted ODM, that's very serious disaster
which may need a system restore.
You can refer to the IBM AIX admin guide or support guide, there 's a
standard procedure to recover from this kind of situation ...
Also I did meet this kind of situation on SP2 system before, due to the
"lppsource" had not been updated from NIM, so that when system boot, system
will not be able to find some very important filesets, (including some which
may be needed to access boot device), then it hangs at 554.
As you're using NIM, that's probably the cause.
Check you NIM setting, make sure all filesets are available.

Good Luck,
Thomas

554 can be a lot of things. The only real way to tell is to contact support for
help to do a debug boot and read the results.

All boot hang conditions can be debugged. The biggest factor is being able
reproduce the problem. There could be ODM issues, network issues, or other
things that is causing file systems not to mount.

Call AIX support.

Jetzt frage ich mich nur, ob es nun privates oder geschäftliches
Surfen ist, wenn ich von comp.unix.aix aus die Fotos vom Lakaien -
Konzert durchschaue :>

The lppsources was checked , so the spot has been rebuild, we tried many
times to reload , no result ..
