I would like to know how can I stop and start the cron process in a
script.
In other Unix platforms it can be done with
PATH/cron stop and PATH/cron start, but I tried in AIX and it doesnt
work.
Thanks for your help

and
for one thing, you need root access to stop cron (if i understood your
question correctly). cron is controlled by init. you can turn off cron
with chitab "cron:2:off:/usr/sbin/cron" and to turn it back on, change
the :off: to :respawn:
if you're trying to start/stop a script that is controlled by cron, man
crontab
