Changing $ symbol to # system wide using charmap locale????

I need a legacy system for which I have no source code, to display the
British pound sterling symbol every time it would normally display
the dollar symbol. I've tried compiling a new locale but just get
heaps of errors when I run localedef.

I have AIX 5.3

Any help appreciated!!!!

you must have the C compiler installed.
...

So i suggest that you look for a C-Compiler. Maybe the easiest way is
to download a try & buy version.
