I'm not able to do a cdrom installation on a 44P-170
I switched the boot order to cdrom and did a reboot.
System halts with message "0c31" and screen shows something like
------------------
boot image timestamp: xxxxxx
Current time and date: xxxxxx
number of processors: xxxx size of memory: xxxxx
boot device: /pci@fef00000/scsi@c/sd@1:\ppc\chrp\bootfile.exe
closing stdin and stdout ...
---------------------------
Any help is appreciated

Any hint where I can find them?

Contact your local IBM dealer.
0c31 means press 1 and enter on the keyboard.
Steve
is there anything I have to adjust before the installation?

You don't get a message "press 1 and enter on the keyboard" on your screen
propably your terminal (or emulator) is connected in a correct way to the
console port. Check following:
- teminal settings -normally- should be 9600,n,8,1
- is your serial cable ok (pinning ok?)
- is your cable connected to the right serial port

You have to upgrade you CD-ROM firmware (if you have a 32x or 40x....
Try this:
http://techsupport.services.ibm.com/server/mdownload//7044x70F.html
(firmware for 44P170)
and
http://techsupport.services.ibm.com/server/mdownload//genucode.html
(Gunecode to use to update)
and
http://techsupport.services.ibm.com/server/mdownload//40xcdrom.html
(CD-ROM firmware)
