I am trying to use the netinstall option to load the bos. I followed
the instructions in the 3.2 installation guide to the letter. The
following is a quick description of the problem.

1) client is booted from AIX 3.2 floppies
2) network install options selected and /usr server options selected
( ip addresses, gateway, netmask, etc.)
3) start install
4) client able to contact server and bring up install options menu
5) client displays getting file systems size info message
6) nothing happens

I let it run overnight, no good. I tried a full install, no good.
I have booted the client directly from tape and install went fine, so
the hardware is ok. I took the two machines off the network, and tried
hooking them up directly, no good, so it is not a gateway/router problem.
I am missing something in the netinstall server configuration, but I am stymied
as to what it is. The local SE and IBM office have been no help, and when I
called software defect support I was sent back to the local office for help. If
anyone has done this, or if anyone knows anything that I have missed or if
you need more info, please let me know.

Thanks,

I foiund that the name of the filesystem containing the installable
image must be called /u/netinst because the network install specifically looks
in /u/netinst/db for the choices and .fs.size files. Since you are not getting
past the .fs.size file, I suspect this might be the problem.
