The only use of the term "TCP4" that I've seen was in reference to TCP
run over IPv4. Since the old ARPANET and NCP are quite dead, I
haven't seen "TCP4" as a common term.
Where'd you run into this?
Could this instead be a corruption of "TP4"? That's the rough
equivalent of TCP in the ISO CLNP world. (Which is also dead, though
I suppose not as dead as NCP. ;-})

where did this term come from? the TCP version number that eveyone
using now is 4 and it's peer IP is also version 4. there is , however,
IPv6 and ICMPv6...
what are you trying to find out?

Are you seeing this in AIX 4.3? tcp4 is used to indicate an AF_INET
SOCK_STREAM socket, aka TCP over IPv4.
-Dave
When we enter a netstat -a on a aix-4.3.1 system we get this TCP4
This is "the only difference" in network what we can find between a
aix-4.2.1 and this 4.3.1 system. We are looking in to this because Control-M
does not run on this 4.3.1 system, and the support on Control-M is worst
Why doesn't the aix-4.2.1 gives TCP4 in the netstat -a entry ?

Unfortunately I am not refering to the button combination, but to the
schedulingapplication Control-M.
We fnaly got an anwser from Boole and Babbage Europe about Control-M,
A new verion had to be installed.
