I have posted an early message about p/h disk problem after replacing a
new disk
think i need to configue hdisk , as ODM does not see it
mkdev: 0514-519 The following device was not found in the customized
device configuration database:
name = 'hdisk19'
Anyone point me in the right direction

You probably do not have drivers installed for this disk. Is it the
first of this type of drive you have installed on this system? If
you're running 4.3.3+ then you probably have the drivers on your AIX
CDs.
Place the first AIX CD in your drive and type "cfgmgr -i /dev/cd0" and
see if it finds the necessary drivers.
If the drivers are not found then you will have to obtain them from
http://service.software.ibm.com.
We can see the pdisk, but just cant assocaited the hdisk with it
did you perform the replacement procedure given in the SSA users guide ?
did you remove the pdisk after replacement (before cfgmgr)?
if not: remove the pdisk and try cfgmgr.
Otherwise:
perform a SSA Link Verification using diag
provide a lscfg | grep pdisk and lscfg | grep hdisk

Hi Simon,
just a thought, but could it be that you put in the disk without deleting
the info about the old one? Maybe the info about the old disk still lurks
there somewhere in the abyss of the ODM and puts an obstacle between you
and your new disk.
Supposing your disk is on ssa0 try:
rmdev -dl ssa0 -R
which should delete all the hdisks, pdisks and the adapter itself. Then
reboot and run cfgmgr. Maybe this helps.
